Phish @ Camden – Thursday

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

After a crazy four hour drive I arrived in Camden. Parking fees are out of control $20 for parking. The concert tickets only cost $50. Looking forward to a nice sunset.

Sat night Phish @ SPAC

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

The Sat night show was awesome. I had hoped to post this last night but I lost reception when I was uploading.

In a new parking lot tonight inside the park. The weather has been awesome so far. Had a heavy thunderstorm once we got back to the camping site. It only lasted for 15 min though which was really nice.

Camping & SPAC

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

No cell coverage at the camping site but the campground is nice. Had some tasty tacos before we headed to SPAC. Will be heading in to see the show shortly.

A fine hotel

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

The SPAC adeventure begins!

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Just polished off two yummy slices of pizza. Waiting for Mikey to pick me up in some crazy industrial part of Secacus.

Finaly arrived in Newark around 5:30, got my checked bag and am just waiting for the train to go to Penn Station.

Power is back, plane is still delayed

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

The power is back on in the airport. The departure is currently scheduled for 9:38

The airport just lost power

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

As i’m sitting here at the gate the airport just lost power.

At the same time they announced that the flight would be delayed an hour or so.

Hopefully they get the power back on and we don’t have to leave the terminal.

The adventure continues…..

The adventure begins to wind down

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

After I got my hotel room squared away I went over to Balboa park. The place was just amazing, unfortunately due to the late hour the museums were closed. Walking around the grounds during sunset was beautiful.

Of couse as luck would have it just as the sun hit the perfect angle the battery on my camera died. My other battery was back in the hotel room charging. Having the phone was handy I was able to get some images that I would not have otherwise been able to get.

The attached images were taken at Balboa park. The last image is of the moon rising over the desert.

Festival 8 has concluded

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Amazingly we were able to leave the festival without hitting a single bit of traffic. We left around 8:30 and made it back to San Diego with enough time for lunch. Mike and Matt have been dropped off at the airport and Lindsay is continuing her San Diego adventure.

I just got the car emptied, now I just have piles of stuff in the hotel room that I need to organize.

The photo attached is a view from the hotel window.

Sunday morning

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

All three sets last night were amazing. The first and last sets were really strong.

Out of all the Phish festivals I would definitely say that this one is the most organized.

The trash, recycling and compost bins are about 50 feet apart and are emptied through out the day.

Not to jinx myself as its not over yet but the port a potties have been kept extemly clean.

Also for the first time ever they have showers. Just took my first shower since Wednesday. After sweating out in the desert for the past few days it felt really good.

The attached photo is looking at the stage from inside the concert field

Saturday morning

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Sorry that I haven’t been posting as often. The cell service has been getting progressively worse since we got here. Probably just a result of more folks arriving and using there cells.

The show last night was great. The concert field is really nice. The space is huge which allows for plenty of walking opportunities. The site where the concert is being held is five miles by five miles.

The only knock I have against the festival in general is the very limited amount of drinking water. We have been able get enough, it’s just a bit of a pain to obtain

In the shade it is really nice

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Since around noon we have been hanging out in the shade canopy that we set up on our site.

In the shade it is around 20 degrees cooler, also a 5-15 mph breeze which feels great.

Going to head into the concert field around 5pm.

Fri morning

Friday, October 30th, 2009

The weather was great last night. It didn’t start to really warm up till 10 this morning.

We just completed a loop of about four miles around the festival site.

The photos are view from our camping site looking at the back of the stage.

The sun begins to set, day 2

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The first evening at the festival is among us. About to begin the first wander of the place.

The photos is of the main road on our camping area. There are around 5-6 different groups of tents in small blocks around the concert field.

Almost there!

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Just went through the security checkpoint. Got the wristband and am just standing by waiting to head over to the camping area

Heading to the show

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Camped out at a pretty cool spot. Realized the next morning that it was next to a scorpian den.

The beagle has landed

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Just touched down and are taxing to the gate

Almost there

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

After around a 45 minute delay on the ground we finally took off. There were 14 planes on the taxi way after us, so I guess it could have been worse.

I figure we are around 45 away from landing (currently 5:35pm EDT). This is a pic of the fluffy clouds from the plane window.

At the airport

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Made it to the airport and through the checkpoint without issue.

I had a McGriddle breakfast sandwich from McDonalds. It was addictivly disgusting, I probably have one every two years or so. Which I think is still way to often.

On the train

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

On the train heading to the airport. Combined pack weight it’s 60 friggin pounds. Much prefer the normal pack weight of 30 pounds.

Aqua Sol is tasty

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Hanging out at Aqua Sol in Bear, DE for Chiris’s birthday. After a 24 hour fast I had the conch fritters and the seafood paella. Both were amazing, a highly recommend scooby snack : )

To wash down the above I’m enjoying the Dogfish Head Punkin Ale. A fine beer for the first nights of cool weather that fall brings.

Morning meat delivery

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The butcher in Astoria getting their morning meat delivery.

FLOAT at Socrates park

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Went to the FLOAT exhibition at Socrates today. There were some cool new installations and performance pieces. A pic of the LIC skyline from the park.

Bluetooth on a CB radio

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I was at the store the other day and saw a CB radio with Bluetooth. All I can say is wow. A collision of technolgy at it’s finest.

Cat in the sink

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

The cat decided that the best spot to chill out during the heat wave was in the sink.

Remote posting now up

First post from a remote device!

Chasing a ghost is almost always pointless

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Since two Sundays ago I have been chasing what seems to have ended up being a computer specific ghost.  When I played any of the Flash photo galleries on my PC some of the images were out of center.  Looks like it ended up being a stupid setting in Zonealarm.  Guess that’s why it was only on my PC.  At any rate, I’m expirementing with photo galleries without the side piece.  The Mike Z B-day and the Save the Boobs galleries have the new look, let me know if you prefer one look vs the other.

Gran Turino & the Cloisters

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Been a bit behind in posting, had some pretty tasty pizza on Saturday night.  Checked out the movie Gran Turino, good movie, nice theater and a high quality print.  I have to say the only way I see film lasting is through a quality print and good projection.  Headed up to Inwood Park on Sunday had a decent bagel & salmen sandwich.  Got to check out the Cloisters but only for a few minutes as it was closing time.  Would definitlety love to go back a spend some time there, it felt like a place to just where you would just want to sit and ponder.
